Long-Term Protection, Real Results
Ceramic coating is a durable, glossy protective layer that chemically bonds to your vehicle's paint. It's built to make maintenance easier and keep the paint looking its best over the long run — without overpromising on what it can do.
What it does
- Adds a durable protective layer over your paint
- Enhances gloss and paint depth
- Makes routine washing and maintenance easier
- Helps resist everyday dirt, grime and contaminants
What it doesn't
- Make paint scratch-proof or immune to damage
- Last forever without any maintenance
- Replace the need for regular washing
- Fix existing paint defects on its own

Two lengths of protection, one standard of prep. Your final price is confirmed from photos or an in-person inspection.

Prep comes first
Decontamination, and correction when the paint needs it, before any coating.

Coating is applied after decontamination and, when the paint needs it, paint correction.
Gtechniq, And Why
We build our protection work around Gtechniq — a professional-grade line made specifically for coating and paint-correction work, not for a car-wash aisle.

Durability you can measure
Gtechniq coatings are rated in years of protection rather than washes. The gloss and the beading are the visible part — the real work is the layer that keeps Kansas sun, road salt and freeze-thaw off your clear coat.
Prep-first chemistry
The coating is only as good as what's underneath it. Gtechniq's panel wipe and prep products let paint be stripped of oils and residue before anything is sealed, so the coating bonds instead of sitting on top.
Predictable, professional results
Products that behave the same way every time are what make results repeatable. That consistency is what lets a coating be quoted, applied and maintained on a schedule you can actually plan around.
Why Prep Is 80% of the Result
A coating locks in whatever is under it, good or bad. That's why every SKW coating starts with a full decontamination and, when needed, machine polishing.

Same panel · same light
See it before it's coated
Inspection
We look at the paint under high-CRI detailing lights, at an angle, panel by panel. Swirls, holograms, water spots and deeper scratches all show up under that light.
Decontamination
A pH-neutral wash, then iron fallout remover and tar removal, then a clay treatment to pull out the bonded contamination a normal wash can't touch.
Correction
Only what the paint actually needs — a light one-step polish on healthy paint, a multi-stage cut on neglected paint. You'll know which before we begin.
If your paint doesn't need correction, we won't sell it to you.
If it does, you'll see the difference under the same light before the coating ever goes on.
Ceramic Coating vs. Wax and Sealant
These three get talked about as if they compete. They don't — they solve different problems. Here's the honest version.
| Wax | Sealant | Ceramic Coating | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Durability | 4–8 weeks | 3–6 months | 4 or 6 years, by coating |
| Gloss | Warm, short-lived | Clean and even | Deepest, hardest finish |
| Chip Protection | None | None | Minimal — chemical, not impact |
| Upkeep | Reapply every few washes | Reapply twice a year | pH-neutral wash |
Worth saying plainly: a ceramic coating is a chemical layer, not a physical shield. It won't stop a rock chip. What it does is make everything else easier to live with.

Kansas is hard on paint. A coating won't make your car immune to any of this, but it changes how each one behaves — and how much work it takes to undo.
Road Salt & Brine
Brine clings to paint and creeps into seams, and it's what makes Kansas cars rust early. On a coated surface it releases with a touchless rinse instead of bonding to the clear coat and etching in over the winter.
Hard Water Spots
Lawrence water leaves minerals behind, and on bare paint those minerals etch within a day or two in the sun. A coating makes water bead and sheet off, so there's far less left to dry — and what does dry comes off with a mild spot remover.
Bug Season on I-70 and K-10
Bug splatter is acidic and bakes on fast in summer heat. The slick surface of a coating means bugs release after a soak and a light wipe — no scrubbing, which is what usually puts swirls in a front bumper.
Tree Sap & Pollen
Sap bonds aggressively to bare clear coat and can leave a permanent mark if it sits. On a coated panel it lifts with a dedicated sap remover or isopropyl alcohol before it has a chance to etch.
Aftercare
A coating isn't a set-and-forget product — it's a surface that rewards simple, consistent care. Here's the whole routine.
The First 7 Days
Keep it dry. No washing, no pressure washers, and park inside if you can. If it rains, don't panic — the first 24 hours matter most. Avoid parking under trees, since sap and bird droppings are the two things that can leave a mark this early.
How to Wash It
pH-neutral shampoo, a clean microfiber mitt and a second bucket or grit guard. Rinse top-down, dry with a plush towel and a drying aid. Skip brush tunnels — they're the fastest way to put swirls back into a coated finish.
Annual Inspection & Top-Up
Bring it back once a year. We decontaminate, check how the coating is behaving, and apply a top-coat to refresh the hydrophobic layer.
